If you’ve been waiting to hear more from Just Flight on their previously announced Tornado GR1 project, wait no more because we’ve got a fresh update focused on the swing wing strike fighter coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator. Let’s have a look!
Nearly Tonka time!

We’ve got news on the Tornado GR1 and it sounds quite promising. While the programming team had to step away to help finish up the Avro RJ, the Tornado’s artists have completed their work on the exterior and interior refining everything and giving it 8K resolution textures. They’ve also been working on liveries with the German Air Force and Navy getting a variety of schemes – the more colourful come from some of the Tigermeets. Just Flight report that liveries will include a variety of standard and special schemes from the Royal Air Force, Italian Air Force, Royal Saudi Air Force as well as the German Air Force and Navy as mentioned.
A full time dedicated coder is returning to the jet in the new year which they say will significantly speed development.
Just Flight are not quite certain which sims they are going to support with this.
With regards to MSFS 2020 / MSFS 2024 compatibility, it’s still undecided which simulators we will be able to support with the Tornado, as this largely depends on the number of differences that we find within the SDK as development progresses. This is a decision we will have to take fairly soon, however, so we’ll keep you informed once a decision has been made.
We’ll have to wait and see what they decide to do.
