Time for the first news round-up of the year. A bunch of smaller news items have come out over the last few days and here’s a round-up of a few of them that are DCS World related. We have plans for Reflected Simulations next campaigns, a new image of the Tornado, IndiaFoxtEcho talks weapon options on the G.91 and a brief message from RAZBAM welcoming the new year.

Reflected Campaign plans for 2025

Reflected Simulations has released a new video on their YouTube channel with an overview of what plans are forming for new campaign content in 2025. Among the upcoming campaigns is the already announced Red Flag 81-2 with the DCS: F-4E Phantom II. There will also be a new DCS: F-14 oriented campaign called “Anytime Baby!” which will be a collection of historical missions flown by the Tomcat – a “love letter” to the jet in Reflected’s words.

Reflected is also looking forward to making campaigns for the DCS: F6F Hellcat and DCS: F4U Corsair. Operation Forager, set during the Marianas Turkey Shoot, and another set during the Battle of Okinawa for the Corsair – both contingent on the release of not only the aircraft but the lengthy list of assets needed for a Pacific campaign like that. While we all wait for that, Wolfpack II: Overlord will be a sequel to the Wolfpack campaign using the Normandy 2 map and the DCS: P-47D Thunderbolt.

All very exciting stuff!

AviaStorm show a new image of the Tornado

Progress is clearly being made with AviaStorm and their DCS: Tornado project. Their Happy New Year messaging give us this beautiful shot of the Tornado!

Happy new year, leaving 2024 in the rear view mirror and onwards to 2025!

Hopefully 2025 will be when we learn and see more of what the team at AviaStorm have been up to. Follow them on Facebook for more.

G.91 picks up some new weapons

IndiaFoxtEcho have another DCS update coming in hot with the latest focused on their G.91 project. The Fiat G.91 was designed as a subsonic light attack aircraft and in the latest images we’ve got new weaponry options being discussed.

The work-in-progress images also discuss weapon options. The Mk80 series of bombs (Mk81, Mk82, and Mk83 with low-drag, Snake Eye, and AIR versions), LR-25 rocket pods with ARF-8/M3 rockets, LAU-3 rocket pods with FFAR rockets, and cluster bombs.

They have decided to include the AIM-9B, a weapon planned for use with the jet but not used in practice. Here’s a little of what they said about it:

Although the designers of the time had already equipped the aircraft with a dedicated system for this missile, flight tests (particularly those conducted by the Portuguese Air Force) never yielded positive results due to the seeker’s inability to lock onto heat sources. Fortunately, DCS is not reality and allows us to achieve goals that the designers and specialists of the time could not.

They also report working on HVAR rocket launchers with the shown three rack option also having a six rack option too for added punch.

Jet assisted rocket takeoff is being explored as is the possible, but not confirmed inclusion of the M116A2 Napalm bomb.

Looking forward to more from IndiaFoxtEcho!

RAZBAM 2025 mesage

We haven’t heard much officially from RAZBAM in quite some time, however, one of the key members of the team posted a 2025 message to the developer’s Discord server yesterday. Though the message doesn’t contain any new information it is at least some sort of message from the group.

Welcoming 2025 with Hope and Gratitude Dear RAZBAM Community, As we close the chapter on 2024, we want to take a moment to reflect and thank you for standing by us through a challenging year. Despite the hurdles, your unwavering support and engagement have reminded us of the strength and resilience of this incredible community. 2025 is a fresh start, and with it comes renewed hope and determination. We’re excited to move forward, share new experiences, and continue building this space with all of you. Your feedback, camaraderie, and encouragement are what inspire us to keep improving and striving for more. Here’s to a brighter year ahead, filled with new opportunities, shared adventures, and stronger connections. Thank you for being an essential part of RAZBAM’s journey. Warm regards, The RAZBAM Team

Uncertainty continues to swirl over what the status is between Eagle Dynamics and RAZBAM. Is the situation between the two parties repairable? If not, what happens to their modules and their usability over the long term? Is a fresh start indicating that the developer is moving on to other simulators? It’s quite possible that RAZBAM will turn their attention to Microsoft Flight Simulator, similar to the joint efforts that Heatblur as put in on that platform, or maybe they have hitched a ride with the in-development next generation F-16 Falcon sim from Microprose. We’ll know in time!

Updated: One more video to see on the Skyraider

Check out this interesting video from Air Warfare Group on YouTube with Tyler from Echo 19 who was recently out recording the audio of a A-1H Skyraider for the DCS: AH-1H by Crosstail Studios. We haven’t heard much about that module since its announcement but this is a neat behind the scenes look at how audio gets recorded!

  1. I’m not much of a Tornado guy, it is after all just an F-111 that skipped leg day, but that is a cool picture.

      It is a cool picture!

I have a soft spot for the Tornado as the Luftwaffe Tornado guys used to visit some of the southern Ontario airshows back in the late 80s and early 90s and we’d always see them. Fantastic airplane. Wish I could see them flying again.

    2. Tornado is well known throughout Europe and Britain you used to see them flying at 150 feet all over the place 20 years ago or so. Plus used in pretty much showed up to every conflict NATO was involved with in the last 40 years. Much larger usage than the F111… F111 woukd be interesting too though especially with the Austalian NT map….

      1. Yeah, as an Australian (who used to live not far from Amberley AFB as a child) I like the Tornado as a kinda euro version of the F1-11. But I’d be over the moon if we did get an F1-11, it’s right in my wheelhouse – Low flying, ground attack, mid cold war (so pre FBW) with some fascinating stuff like the terrain following radar. But I live in the UK now, so a Tornado is good too! I need to do some research on the plane, given I’ll probably grab it when it comes out. Although it doesn’t have the childhood memories for me, it sure ticks the other boxes – although as someone said, compared to the F1-11, it skipped leg day :D. But that should be fine for a ground attack run-in, if not ideal in a BFM dogfight.

Both the F-111 and Tornado sound like fun to me! 🙂

  2. I would like to see an F-111 for DCS World. Maybe that will be Something that we will see in the 2025-35 timeframe.

It’s possible that an F-111 could be done. As a more specialized airframe it’s less popular but it could be done.

  3. I would also like to see some more attack helicopters in the 2025-35 timeframe such as the Bell AH-1 SuperCobra, Eurocopter Tiger, and Mi-28, though the latter may still very well still be too classified to do as a full fidelity module.

I think you’ll have to be happy with the AH-64. I don’t think we’ll see anything more sophisticated than that.

      1. I think you’re right. I would still really like to see a Bell AH-1 Cobra or SuperCobra or both. Belsimtek were going to make an AH-1 about 10 years ago but something happened and they didn’t get it finished. I think it could be done now, since they have been retired by the US Military.

I’d like to see an old model AH-1. That’d be great.

  4. The entire RAZBAM situation is disheartening. That they broke the cardinal rule that one should “not air dirty laundry in the public,” by trying to stoke the flames of DCS supporters was simply in bad taste and wrong. I, like everyone else, do not know the true story of what has happened, but to me, RAZBAM was trying to sow discontent and use customers as a weapon, which ain’t right.

It wasn’t a good time for the community at all. I’m hopeful something will bring it to a resolution in 2025 but we’ll have to see how it goes.

    2. The fact that they chose to do what you explained, instead of pursuing legal action – leads me to believe they didn’t have a (legal) leg to stand on…

But still wanted to see ED crash-and-burn.

A battle of wills and egos that customers ended up paying for.

      Like

    3. Perhaps but it sounds to me that they were pushed into it by ED, either way when a relationship gets to that point at all it’s not good.

It would be great for both ED, Razbam, and DCS if it could be sorted out and whatever problems caused it addressed.

    4. the BIG legal issue ED has (is so is) given themselves, especially in the UK and EU is that – ED are still selling all the RAZBAM products, making ED (the seller) liable for the product to continue working for a minimum of 5 years after the sale.

combining this with refusing to pay Razbam any money made from their product could end ED if Razbam were to go down that legal route. Thankfully it looks like neither of them want that, but the current MAD (mutually assured destruction) isn’t going make either of them any friends.

  5. Remember, IndiaFoxTecho is working on a third module of their’s for DCS. I wonder what it will be. The only hints given is that it will not be Italian or European. So maybe something American or Soviet. I would like to see them (or anybody really) do the F-16A and B (a Falcon module with both fighter and trainer variants) as I see that they seem to be concerned with making modules of aircraft that served in the Italian Air Force. I would also like to see them contribute to the WWII pool of aircraft down the track by making a Fiat G.55, which could be used on Syrian or Sinai maps incase somebody wanted to set up an Arab Israeli War module.

    1. Honestly I think we have enough of the F16. We have BMS, F16 module in DCS, new Falcon game being worked on.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the F16 and love flying it. But we already have enough of it.

We really lack in Redfor, and it’s a goldmine.

Wish someone would put in the effort. Su 25, Su 24, Su 27, Su 30 and many others.

For Blue, would love to see Eurofighter, Tornado, Mirage.

Someone mentioned not too long ago that the Su-15 “Flagon” has not appeared in any serious capacity in any sims. No idea how hard it’d be to do something like that but… I’d love some vintage Redfor in the mix beyond what we have.

  6. Isn’t RAZBAM rumored to be reviving the Strike Eagle series IP for Microprose? I know Rob had a social media post of using BMS recently, but it seems like they could leverage their F-15E work more quickly even if it has to be completely rebuild.

There’s been a few variations on a MicroProse / RAZBAM team up. We’ll have to see if that’s something that’s going to happen. It’d be interesting to see.

      1. If there were two entities that I basically wanted to guarantee a lack of execution for these days, it would probably be the modern incarnation of Microprose and Razbam.

That’s the MW-1 or JP233. It’s intended as a submunition dispenser with bomblets or mines used to attack area targets or runways. Used during the 1991 Gulf War.
