I haven’t written about Top Mach Studios since they released their B-2A Spirit back in August. Their small collection of military focused aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator has grown by one. The latest to release is the hot off the presses T-7A Redhawk. Let’s have a look at it plus some MSFS 2024 updates.

Redhawk

Joining the F-22A Raptor and B-2A Spirit, the T-7A Redhawk trainer jet is the next aircraft from Top Mach Studios to release to Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The aircraft release features simulated fly-by-wire systems, controllable and docile stall handling beyond 30 degrees AoA, controlled flight up to 50,000 feet, detailed modeling and texturing inside and out, functional touch screen interface with custom developed gauges and instrumentation, multi mode HUD, FLIR with HUD overlays for night and low visibility flying, fully. functional instructor pilot position, EFB with integrated G3000 for extra navigation and flight planning functionality, 20 liveries, and an Fmod sound package from the well known Echo 19 Audio group.

The module is priced at $27.99 USD and is available through the MSFS Marketplace.

Moving on over to 2024

Like most developers, Top Mach Studios is working through the challenges of the MSFS 2024 release. While you can buy their products for 2020 through Just Flight’s store or through the 2020 marketplace, getting their products into 2024 is a bit more tricky. Just Flight purchasers should be able to drag their F-22 over to the new community folder and fly the aircraft, albeit with some compatibility issues at the present point in time, while Marketplace users can use the content tab to access their aircraft. That also comes with the caveat that products are appearing and disappearing from the content manager and may or may not be available.

The developer is committed to offering their MSFS 2020 aircraft in 2024 with free compatibility updates so if you have both and want to purchase in the older sim and upgrade later, that should be easy enough to do. Here’s what they had to say.

Your in-game Marketplace purchases will transfer over without having to re-purchase. Same for F-22 purchases from JustFlight.

  1. The T-7A is such a fascinating aircraft. A max takeoff weight (for now) of 12,125 lbs with 17, 200 lbs of thrust available with burner. That is quite the hot rod for a trainer.
Of course, there is the minor fact that the real thing doesn’t quite meet its design requirements yet but hey, that kinda stuff doesn’t hold us back in a sim!

I really need to read more about the specifics. That does sound like quite the performer! I know its taken a little while to get through the design process (but what modern jet hasn’t) and I also know they’ve thought about offering an armed version as a light fighter with lower costs. I will have to read more about its performance!

interesting way of looking at the problem. eg X-Plane (Laminar Research) claims that you can create your own aircraft design in the sim to test its real world performance even before it gets into the air.

would be interesting to know the X-Plane performance of the T7A addon module from AOA Sims and how it compares to its real world performance.
