Last week, Orbx released their TBM Avenger for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The large, carrier-borne, torpedo bomber is a historic legend and now its available to fly in both MSFS 2020 and 2024. Let’s have a look!
Avenger flies again

It’s been a while since a ground-up rendition of the TBM (or TBF) Avenger has been offered in a flight simulator of any kind. Pacific Fighters featured one but it was only available, officially, as an AI airplane and that always felt like a missed opportunity. Here we’ve got one, albeit in a civil flight sim and its coming to us from Orbx.
Orbx are touting realistic flight physics, detailed visuals, and authentic sounds as part of their aircraft feature set. The Avenger has been created together with aerobatic pilot Paul Bennet who owns an airworthy Avenger which surely helped with the visuals, the sounds and Orbx suggests that the flight model was worked over as well.
The aircraft is available for purchase for both MSFS 2020 and 2024 (with the 2020 edition entitling you to 2024 as well). You can buy it from OrbxDirect for $28.00 AUD (or approximately US$17.40, €16,74 or £14.01).
