A pair of well known developers for Microsoft Flight Simulator are getting together to offer up a new helicopter experience. Miltech Simulations and Blackbird Simulations are partnering together to produce the MH-60 in a couple of different variations. Let’s have a look!

Configurations and features for MH-60

Miltech have announced that they are doing the MH-60 for Microsoft Flight Simulator with three variants planned for the initial offering. The Sierra, Romeo and Jayhawk variants are all planned together with several cabin configurations and some hand made mini-scenery sets to help with immersion for the helicopter.

That’s not all as the developer plans to offer a mission system for the aircraft.

We are also working on a brand-new, revolutionary mission system to support the aircraft, as well as other aircraft on the Miltech Simulations catalog, to support from SAR Missions and Coast Guard to Antisubmarine Warfare missions with the MH-60.

To aid in the creation of the project, developers have managed to gain access to an MH-60 and they intend to share details of their experience doing that as a series of developer updates in the coming weeks and months.

They’ve also addressed the elephant in the room regarding the UH-60 Blackhawk.

And since many were wondering… What about the UH-60? Well, the famous “Blackhawk” is based on a very similar airframe, but has an entirely different avionics suite. We are well aware of the demand and are seriously considering releasing UH-60 variants as a separate product in the future. No ETA at this time.

All of this should be interesting, particularly with more activity focused experiences on offer. Increasingly, MSFS customers seem to be looking for things to do with their aircraft beyond the act of flying them and this is a trend that seems to be supported by the popularity of the Career system within the sim. But this seeks to add functionality outside of the perhaps more narrow confines of that system. More as this develops!
