It’s like flying but a little more grounded. Ok, its not flying at all unless you take a hill at maximum speed! Got Friends, the makers of a wide variety of Microsoft Flight Simulator content including some of the included MSFS 2024 planes (the Draco-X and Zlin Norden among them!), have just released an entirely different project for MSFS. Project Crosskart is a buggy that keeps you on the ground and lets you explore the sim from runway level. Let’s have a look!

Update: March 4, 2025 at 7:51 pm EST with corrected pricing

Crosskart!

It sounds a little bonkers and maybe it is but its not the first time we’ve seen developers stretch their skills and try something a little different. Project Crosskart gives us a buggy with a simulated Hayabusa 1300cc engine, a custom physics system, simulated tire physics with a variety of tires on offer, customizable tuning, engine shifts and support for a wide variety of controllers including full sim racing rigs.

The company have previously offered dynamic visual effects with particle effects for kicking up water and mud on aircraft like their Wilga bushplane and the Crosskart uses similar tech to make it dirty as you drive it over rough terrain.

The project is a single purchase with MSFS 2020 and 2024 support. It’s $9.99 USD and its certainly and intriguing proposition.

Soon as my sim PC is back up and running, I’ll be checking this one out to see what this is all about! Can driving in MSFS be fun? I’m keen to find out! If you want to find out for yourself, check it out over here on the GotFriends website.

  1. Thanks for the awesome write-up! Priced at $9.99 as well for that change…

Cheers Shamrock and thank you for sharing our work!

  2. Why not make some sceneries such as Hockenheimring or some other famous racetracks so , people can join and race online? Even one dedicated scenery add-on would be a nice addition. Make it an option for those interested and charge extra?

That’s a pretty good idea. Got Friends are a pretty small team and so far they’ve been mostly dedicated to aircraft (and the Crosskart) development. Not much on scenery. A whole circuit would be an interesting challenge.

There are some freeware (including the one suggested in my review) that work great with it. More rough road focused.
