Making a choice for rudder pedals has just gotten a little more interesting as VIRPIL has just released the VPC R1-FALCON into the mix. This new generation of pedal sports a lengthy list of features so we’ll dig into that. This is also the 9th anniversary of the launch of VIRPIL and they are celebrating with a sale. Let’s check it all out!
R1-FALCON launches
Once upon a time there was a very small number of rudder pedals available for home flight simulation. These days, however, the choice is far more interesting and Lithuanian based VIRPIL Controls have just come out with their latest offering. The company previously have had the ACE series of pedals on offer and have taken lessons learned there to offer this next generation rudder pedal system. Based on that series of pedals, VIRPIL have refined the series and are offering it under the new moniker of FALCON.
These are a 3-axis pedal with yaw and toe brakes, all metal construction, VPC’s contactless sensors, plus a ton of customization available. There are three cams shipping with the product with a hard centre, soft centre, and no centre to cover a wide variety of aircraft types and user preferences. They also have a heavy spring and a standard spring for differing levels of resistance.

The pedals have an adjustable pedal angle with a 20 degree range, adjustable spacing and adjustable pedal tilt. The pedals are cast metal for a premium feel – something that VIRPIL tends to do. The rest of the product is also metal with a CNC metal frame and heavy duty construction.
VIRPIL are also selling a damper upgrade kit adding a hydraulic damper to the system. The damper is meant to remove spring induced wobble or be adjusted to hold pedals in a deflected position with no return to centre. There are options!
The VPC R1-FALCON Rudder Pedals are available in all three online storefronts for Europe, North America, and UK. Pricing is €299.95, US$339.95, and £319.95 respectively. I haven’t heard yet on availability but VIRPIL products are often listed as back-order for availability with regular stock refreshes from the company store.
VIRPIL celebrates 9-years
The company is also celebrating 9-years of operations with a lengthy list of hardware offerings coming from the group over the years. That has included some offerings that I’ve reviewed including the VPC WarBRD base and grip and two variations of the MongoosT-50 HOTAS throttle system.
To celebrate the occasion, the company is offering 9% off the purchase price when you use the code “VIRPIL9” at checkout.
