We’ve got a new Q&A video from the 1C Game Studios folks and this one is focused on the map and some associated features. We’ve learned that you will eventually even be able to drive around in a jeep. Sounds interesting. Let’s check it out!
Korea map Q&A
I’ve summarized some of the key points that we learned during the Q&A but you can also listen in above!
- There will be new visualization approach for sea water with different colours and visualizations for water over wide areas, particularly important for Pacific scenarios after
- Tree types on display so far have been limited to just one type as they develop the product but there are plans for multiple types of trees and they have data on where different types are more common which will be represented on the map.
- A question about land use differences between the 1950s and now lead to a discussion about how they’ve studied maps and data from the period to create accurate land use where possible. Agricultural zones were smaller and less developed than they are now for example. Coast lines are also reflective of what they were in 1950.
- Engine development may allow for some more complex shoreline and even roadside bank visuals but it will mostly be similar to past projects.
- There was an interesting discussion about bridges. Persistence in bridges will enable scenarios where the bridge can be destroyed in one mission, and still be destroyed in another mission. Return a few weeks later and a temporary bridge repair may now be in place.
- We also learned that there are plans, possibly coming after release, where there will be more interactivity with a mission. You’ll start the briefing in a tent before walking out onto the field and going over to your aircraft. You can walk on foot or you may be able to take a jeep. It sounds like this will be animated early on but they plan post release to be able to drive the jeep yourself. If you wanted to, you can drive the jeep across the map.
Interesting stuff we’ve learned this time around.
