Benchmark Sims has just released its latest version of Falcon BMS. Version 4.38 is a substantial update to the venerable sim with significant changes to the core of the experience. Let’s have a look at their new trailer!

BMS gets a big update

The legacy of Falcon 4.0 continues on thanks to Benchmark Sims and a community of dedicated developers working on keeping the sim operating decades after it first released.

The trailer for 4.38 highlights some of the biggest changes to the sim including an entirely new terrain engine, a new atmospheric rendering system, ground movement improvements, new cockpits for the F-16C and F-15C, new assets on the ground and in the air, improvements to SAM and AAA tracking systems, a comms ring menu and an updated UI.

  1. That looks amazing. Probably time for me to get over the intimidation of the complexity of BMS and give it a go.

I hear great things but I haven’t dove in there myself. There’s only so much sim time!

They hooked me with the F15C. I played bms for years every now and then but last year i started in earnest, as the strike eagle went into hibernation.

But as good as they might be, as long as they don’t get a real online server browser/lobby going with persistent public servers, it will still fall behind dcs in terms of multiplayer, as not everyone wants to seek out an online squadron.

  2. Pretty sweet that you can get a first class modern sim for $15 by buying the base game and modding it. And on that note, I heard the base game price went up since BMS made it more attractive. Used to be $10, now $20, but $15 on the Steam sale.

Very impressive! The price has gone up a fair bit since the last time I looked at it. Value has actually increased thanks to BMS.

Steam had it for 5 Gold, just before ownership changed last year. That was when i bought it.

  4. DCS gets some desperately needed competition.

Should be some soul searching over at ED as to how a bunch of fans with zero cash managed to achieve stuff ED still can’t do.
