Quite a few items are getting some attention in the next planned update for DCS World and this week’s DCS World Weekend update is all about what we can expect in the near future. Eagle Dynamics are also extending their summer sale so you have more time to consider grabbing something during the sale.

Update incoming

In this news update, we’re learning that a bunch of different parts of the DCS experience are getting worked on in this next update. The core of the sim is seeing updates that include mission editor and GUI fixes, spotting changes, updates to the Quick Action Generator, and changes to the warhead power for Mk-80 and M117 bombs.

We’ve learned in recent days that the F-16C and F/A-18 are getting new features like the ATP Sniper pod for the F-16C and terrain-avoidance radar mode for the F/A-18C. We’re also learning that the AH-64D is getting a significant George AI update with an update posted on Monday. The changes there should give George quite a bit more capability.

There are also changes to the data transfer cartridge, some new avionics updates for CH-47F, multiplayer sync updates for the Mi-24P and Mi-8MTV2, avionics updates for the OH-58D, minor tweaks to JF-17, and so on.

Magnitude 3 seem to be coming in with some nice updates for both MiG-21bis and F4U-1D. MiG-21 is seeing the AI flight model adjusted, a small fix but notable with the company beginning a pivot to their other projects. The F4U, recently released, hasn’t been forgotten either. There are updates forthcoming for the cooling system, auto-rich mixture changes, gear-over-speed damage, Bat Bomb AI employment, adjustments to the USS Essex, and PBR cockpit textures updates. Ongoing updates from Magnitude-3, patch after patch, is good to see for this early access project.

Sale extended

The last bit of news is surrounding the DCS World Summer Sale. It has been extended for several more days with the new end date being the 21st of July at 15:00 GMT. The sale includes up to 50% off on many products including some of the company’s top modules like the F-16C, F/A-18C and AH-64D. The sale extension is only happening for Eagle Dynamics’ own storefront and not on Steam.

  1. I am looking forwards to what Magnitude 3 has to offer us in the future, though I think I’ll be waiting a very long time for the F-8J Crusader. But still, I’m excited for the future of Magnitude and DCS as a whole as well.

That reminds me, they put out a status update that I should report on.

I also think we’ll be waiting a long time for the F-8 Crusader. Neat aircraft though and a welcome one!
