While DCS World has long had a lengthy list of fighter jets, warbirds, and helicopters, its never really ventured into the world of large transport aircraft before. That has all changed now thanks to the release of DCS: C-130J by the Airplane Simulation Company. The latest DCS World update also brings with it dozens of other changes. Let’s have a look.
The C-130J arrives
Touting authentic cargo operations, an interactive and voiced checklist, first person-loadmaster experience, and multi-crew multiplayer, DCS: C-130J certainly has a unique list of headline features. Normally with a DCS module we’re talking about combat capability but with the mighty Hercules its more about cargo, dropping cargo off, and picking up some more cargo. Mind you, it does have the MOAB as an option so its not entirely unarmed. This will definitely be a unique experience for pilot flying DCS World.
DCS: C-130J is available for early access right now with a slightly reduced $63.99 USD price with that jumping up to $79.99 USD once its completed early access.
The patch notes list some known issues at launch:
- FARP crates will not spawn FARP if unloaded on ground. Airdrop unload only (Hotfix coming).
- MOAB and Crates visually glitch sometimes when leaving cargo bay in multiplayer (Hotfix coming).
- Vehicles that have been loaded into cargo, then unloaded can not be reloaded into cargo.
- In game manual does not resize correctly in VR.
- Sound for AI C-130J aircraft can in rare situations not be heard
Other updates
There are a whole bunch of other changes in this update beyond the addition of the C-130. Fixes and updates are here for the MiG-29, F-16C, AH-64D, F-4E, F-14, and AJS-37 among others. The F4U-1D has some updates that include revisions to how it exits a stall. The CH-47F has some significant changes that affect the thrust grip – a mini-update is available for that here.
DCS: Cold War Germany gets several large changes. Developer Ugra Media has added 19 new airfields, 8 highway strips, 6 large cities, 25 unique objects, has implemented changes to RSBN and PRMG beacons, added parking and fixed taxiways at dozens of airports.
