New free Cold War Asset pack released for DCS

A bunch of new assets aimed at expanding DCS World’s Cold War assets are part of a free pack released today. Here’s what’s been delivered!

Christmas came early

A little early Christmas present for DCS fans as a new asset pack expands the ground vehicle options for DCS World. All of these vehicles have their origins in the Cold War era although many are still around so this helps not only Cold War scenarios (which continue to be popular) but also modern scenarios too.

Here’s the list:

  • APC BTR-60
  • APC BTR-70
  • ATGM AT-3 Sagger 9P133 (BRDM-2 with 9M14 “Malyutka”)
  • MBT T-62M
  • MBT T-80B
  • SAM SA-5 S-200 Radar P-14 “Tall king” EWR
  • SAM SA-9 Strela-1 “Gaskin” TEL (new 3D model)
  • Scout BRDM-2 (new 3D model)
  • Medium tank T-34-85

    I am very much looking forwards to ED doing their annual DCS: 20XX and Beyond trailer. I wonder what they will show us in January 2026?

    I suspect that a Dassault Rafale is in the works, maybe from ED or maybe from someone else, but right now that is just a rumour not openly confirmed to the public.

    Well, most of similar vehicles are already available in DCS. For example, Strela-1 is nothing else like SA-9.

    I can’t believe the T-34/85 and A-6E are coming at the end of the year! I’d love to see the infantrymen dropping out of the C-47 as depicted in the trailer from so long ago.

    Kind of a modest assets pack, but any new stuff is good stuff. I’m all for the new T-34 though, that’s pretty cool.

      Not sure if its a one and done themed pack or if they have plans to add more things into the mix. Cold War scenarios aren’t going away and the aircraft modules are proving popular so it’s a good thing to see!

        I’m sure you’re right and they’ll add to it. I haven’t tried any of them first-person yet but the detailing does look really nice. And blasting Panzers in that T-34 is definitely on my to-do list. 🙂
