A new four minute trailer has just arrived for the Combat Pilot series showing off the latest on the in-development combat sim. We’ve also learned today that a demo is on its way. Let’s check it out!

Watch the trailer, wait for the demo

Combat Pilot continues to make progress and recent releases to the Patreon Alpha test have continued to refine the initial concept. Aircraft are getting textures, moving needles, and the flight model is advancing. It’s rare to get such a detailed look at a sim at this stage but it does mean we have a front row seat as it advances. I feel that this is the spirit underpinning this new Carrier Qualification trailer.

Executive Producer for the project, Jason Williams has also indicated both on Discord and through the trailer’s description that a free trial demo is planned for later this month. So you’ll also be able to get a first look at it!

    1. It’d be nice if that was part of the quals!

  2. Since this is still early development, I’m going to keep an open mind, but…

the overall lighting seems very Prepar3D to me – i.e., very flat and subdued, dim and dark.

I hope they can dial up the intensity – this is the Pacific Theatre, after all! 😉

    1. Unreal engine has some pretty impressive lighting tools so at this point I’m thinking its just part of the steps on the process towards generating something really good. Right now it doesn’t really even have atmospheric haze as the horizon is a solid line. IMHO, I see this all as part of the alpha/development phase that we mostly don’t get to see with other projects.

  3. The performance of UE5 in racing simulators is almost a meme at this point. And good luck with VR. I’ll never buy another UE5 game.

    1. I’m not all that familiar with racing games (I play GRID on my Nintendo Switch and Forza on my PC sometimes). Which one is using UE5? Do you think its indicative of performance for other sims? So far Combat Pilot alpha is running very smoothly for me!
