The latest DCS World update has arrived and it has a major campaign release and a new WWII module coming along in tow. DCS: La-7 has, at long last, released to the community for purchase and so has Cerberus North 2. Let’s take a look at both and at some of the higher highlights of this latest update.

Lavochkin to DCS World

Octopus G has just released DCS: La-7 for DCS World. This late war Russian fighter, powered by a Shvetsov ASh-82FN radial and primarily armed with a pair of ShVAK 20mm cannons, has been in development for the sim for years.

Feature highlights include detailed and fully animated aircraft, interactive clickable cockpit, detailed damage model, historic liveries, air to air and air to ground weapons, and detailed model of the radial engine operation and cooling systems. Instant action and interactive training missions together with a pilot guide ship with the module.

The release is considered early access and there is slight discount being applied right now. When complete, the module will sell for $49.99 USD, however, it is currently available for $10 off.

You can look it up here on the DCS World store.

Cerberus North 2 releases

Ground Pounder Sims next campaign release has also arrived today. Cerberus North 2 is a follow-on to the original making use of the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet, DCS: Syria, and DCS: Supercarrier modules.

Here’s part of the description:

Rejoin Steep and the pilots of VMFA-232 as they return to the Middle East in another thrilling, immersive and detailed campaign. Set aboard the USS Harry S. Truman, Operation Cerberus North 2 will offer exciting naval operations over 13 varied missions, including; CAS, SEAD, strike, air to air combat, and anti ship operations, and will feature the highly immersive and interactive gameplay, memorable characters and detailed storyline that Ground Pounder Sims is known for.

You can pick up Cerberus North 2 for $14.99 USD. Watch the trailer below and visit the eShop for more information.

Other update highlights

DCS 2.9.25.21123 is out today packaging the aformentioned content together with a few other highlights. Eagle Dynamics are reporting for example that they’ve fixed AIM-120 missile destruct when no target acquired, updated the Ural 4320 ATZ-10 Refueler model, updated various features for the Data Transfer Cartridge system, made improvements to the F-16C, AH-64D, CH-47F, C-130J, F-4E Phantom, Mirage F1, and others.

Marianas map has also seen some big updates adding new models, new points of interest, improvements to cities, airfield fixes and improvements, texture adjustments, and more.

  1. I’m interested in the La-7, but waiting for some reviews before I decide on getting it. At this point the F-100 is next on my Day One purchase list. But the way release schedules work, even if it’s ready today we won’t see it for months.

      Still aways out I’m guessing!

  2. I wonder what OctopusG will formally announce next. The Su-17 Fitter is on the top of my list of suspicion as they released a video years ago of a WIP Fitter as well as some pictures of it being in early development. I also wonder if they will collaborate with Magnitude 3LLC, since they have also hinted as that being their next project.

I don’t think there will be any collaboration. Octopus G seems to be a mostly solo effort so I expect that will continue. Su-17 or 22 or something like that could be what they do but it’s quite uncertain until something is formalized. There may be some sort of deconfliction needed with ED before that proceeds more seriously.

      1. Understood. I would like to assume that OctopusG would get the Su-17/22 deal over Magnitude 3LLC. The latter third party have a lot on their plate already with their anticipated MiG-21Bis 2.0 and F-8J Crusader.
