Heatblur’s second major Microsoft Flight Simulator release has just entered into final testing according to an update just posted to the developers Facebook page. Let’s have a look at the latest status update for this legendary airplane.

Final testing

Some really good news for folks looking for a F-4 for Microsoft Flight Simulator as developer Heatblur report that final testing is underway. They report that they are polishing inputs, organizing EFB pages, and are working on Navigraph integration.

The project reportedly uses the company’s Anvil component based simulation framework with deep simulation of the Phantom’s systems (ala the DCS World version). They also report that the aircraft will be using a fully custom external flight model.

Strap in as we get rolling on the release trailer and stock up on moustache wax! Thank you all for your kind patience and continued support!

Stay tuned for more from Heatblur!

  1. Speaking of HeatBlur, who are also making the F-16A, I would really like to see HeatBlur do an F-16A/AM for DCS World one day.

    1. Any 70s blue A airframe for DCS is highly needed.

The high level tech featured in those like F/A-18C, F-16C are a sometimes nuisance to those who wants to simulate an 80s scenario, namely the HMDs being available and other sensors.

      A-10A, F-15A, F-16A, F/A-18A would be highly valuable.

    2. I’m afraid what DCS really needs is competition. DCS has nothing to offer anymore and no additional modules will help it. Just a rework of the entire game as such

ED doesn’t seem to be focused much on anything game related. They’re largely an engineering focused developer which is why we don’t see them doing as much work to focus their content – I suspect a lot of decisions are driven by their professional contracts.

That said, you can have a fun engaging experience. I’ve got a journal coming up about some recent flights I’ve had.

  2. I’m glad this one is HeatBlur going solo.

I’ve never been a fan of India Foxt Echos physics, e.g., I won’t even fly the “HeatBlur” F-14 Tomcat in MSFS because it handles so differently to the DCs version. They don’t even model the DLC…

And I’m pretty sure the F-16A is going to be more of the same.

I get that it’s a $35 addon, but I’d honestly have been willing to pay $50 for it – IF the physics were up to par. 🤙

So, I’m cautiously optimistic since this is just HeatBlur and because they did such a fantastic job on it in DCS!
