Big Black Friday sale on IL-2 and Rise of Flight

1CGS and 777 Studios have announced sale prices on nearly everything including some aircraft and products that haven’t seen much in the way of sale prices so far. If you’re looking to add another bi-plane to your Rise of Flight collection or pickup Battle of Moscow, now is a pretty good time!

Breaking down the details

Getting into the IL-2 series is a fairly expensive proposition. More-so if you’re paying an exchange rate. Any time something comes up on sale its a potentially big deal for fans of the series.

Here are some sale prices for IL-2:

  • IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad is 50% off (now $24.99 for Standard and $39.99 for Premium)
  • IL-2: Battle of Moscow is 33% off (now $33.49 for Standard and $53.59 for Premium)
  • FW190A-3 and La-5 Series 8 are 50% off (now $9.99 for each)
  • P-40E-1 and MC.202 are 15% off (now $16.99 for each)

All of these can be purchased on Steam and through the IL-2 website store.

With Rise of Flight, many fans of the series already have bought the entire collection. However, if you’re like me and you just got into it more recently, these sales are a great opportunity to add types to your hangar.

Suggested buying guide

I’m going to offer a little extra commentary here as well. If you’re a fan of flight sims but haven’t pulled the trigger on either of these games then this sale is a pretty good way to jump in headfirst.

I recommend reading my IL-2: Battle of Moscow review or my IL-2: Battle of Stalingrad review (published on Battle-fields UK’s website) to get a sense of what the new generation of IL-2 is all about. Keep in mind, however, that big changes are coming to the series in 2017 including the release of IL-2: Battle of Kuban. With Battle of Kuban comes a revamped single player, scripted campaign and campaign generation system, new multiplayer features, a revised DirectX renderer and further enhancements which will be applied to all three games in the series retroactively.

With the 50% off Battle of Stalingrad, I would say that getting started with that entry into the series is the best and most cost effective way to get started. Deals on the La-5 and FW190A-3 are also very good while the 15% off on the P-40 and MC.202 are still on the lower side but tempting if you must have them.

With 66% off everything in the Rise of Flight store I would suggest choosing the aircraft that interest you the most. Be they attack and recon planes, fighters, bombers, or a mix of everything.
