DCS: A-10C II coming soon, Hornet update, Syria trailer

This DCS World Weekend News update reveals some interesting information about the release date of the A-10C II, plus updates for the DCS: F/A-18C and a cool new DCS: Syria trailer with quite a lot of DCS: Mi-24P Hind in it. Let’s have a look!

DCS: A-10C II coming by end of the month

According to the update, Eagle Dynamics is preparing the DCS: A-10C II Tank Killer for launch at the end of the month.

Notably, the A-10’s flight model is being tweaked for both the legacy and the new release. Among the notes, careful checks of the flight models buffet and stall implementation, instantaneous turn, sustained turn rate, and maximum speed at different altitudes.

We found that buffeting affects the airframe at a lower AoA than is stated in the manual, this affected aircraft handling during deliberate stalling. We are working on this issue, which will result in a significant improvement to overall aircraft behavior in this phase of flight.

The update also mentions that new systems are now functional. The laser Maverick, APKWS, and GBU-54 LJDAM are apparently all prepared and ready to go.

Not mentioned this week but as a reminder that current owners of the DCS: A-10C will apparently be able to upgrade for a reduced cost. No pricing or pre-order has been offered at this point.

Updates on DCS: F/A-18C

This week, the team at Eagle Dynamics fixed some issues with the Hornet. A/G radar heading figures overlapping when switching between EXP1-2-3 modes (with ever increasing detail and zoom levels) and other strange behavior has apparently been fixed. A variety of other small details have been fixed. Notably, a profile updates are now in for the HOTAS Warthog and VPC WarBRD + MT50.

New DCS: Syria trailer

A new trailer for DCS: Syria has come out. Similar to the pre-order trailer, this is yet another epic masterpiece featuring plenty of jets, helicopters, and scenic moments over the new Syria map.

The Mi-24P Hind, current under development and likely to release later this year, is also prominently featured firing rockets and looking very much like a module that’s approaching readiness. No news today on the new helicopter but I’m sure we’ll see it sooner than later.

Pleasantly surprised to see the release date for Warthog 2 be so soon.

I was hoping to see the Black Shark v3 update before it, but that must be overlapping with the Hind’s production schedule.

Anyhow, new stuff is new stuff and always welcome!

I love these types of games and I would love to be able to play it but my computer which has windows 10 is to slow for this game and suggestions would be great.

      Hi Chris,

Well… the first suggestion is to upgrade your PC. That can be expensive and not within everyone’s reach. If you just want to blast some aircraft with a more arcade kind of feel you can sometimes pick up Ace Combat 7 on sale and play that on a game console if you have that.

But if the high fidelity flying experience in DCS or IL-2 is what you’re after, a reasonably powerful PC is a necessity. What are you working with right now?
