Detailed in a new video from Matt Wagner and Eagle Dynamics, we have new information and details on how to make use of the forthcoming defensive aids for the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet.
More than just bypass
If you’re a DCS: F/A-18C pilot, you’ll know that up until now, the countermeasures system was fairly basic and switching to bypass mode was the easiest and essentially only way to reliably make use of the jet’s countermeasures. Now we’ll have options as the defensive suite is being updated with a passive and automatic countermeasure dispense system that will tune itself to the threats on hand.
Also coming are electronic warfare capabilities with the jet’s jammer being enabled for the first time and becoming functional. Interestingly enough, when the jammer is actively jamming a target, the Hornet’s radar temporarily goes into a passive mode. That’ll make for some interesting scenarios where radar off and jammer on may be preferable and vice versa.
Watch the video, enjoy some nice new clouds for DCS World, and look for this defensive system update to come out soon.
All I saw were clouds.

This is a common problem right now 😉

To think that by the time Vulkan hits, clouds like that are old hat, the way things are. We’ll see old youtube of DCS and laugh it off like stone age previous-gen.
