A hot fix is now out for Microsoft Flight Simulator that fixes the issue with flap lift and drag. Patch notes have been published and if you’ve logged in any time since yesterday, you should be up to date. Here’s what’s changed in the patch.
Notes
There are just four items on the patch notes for this hot fix. Photogrammetry issues around Southampton and Portsmouth have been fixed and the flaps issue introduced in World Update 3 has been resolved.
The issue caused flaps to provide double the lift but without the drag normally associated with them. It made landing some aircraft particularly difficult and unpleasant. Fortunately, after initially deciding to wait, Asobo went ahead and issued a hot fix.
Here are the notes provided to us for this patch:
General
- Fixed the flaps issue that was introduced in World Update 3
- Fixed the photogrammetry for Southampton and Portsmouth
Developer mode
- Fixed Scenery Editor crashes when loading BGLs with Projected Meshes
- Fixed BGL backward compatibility issue with light rows
Thanks for pushing them with your editorial!

I’m not sure if they read my stuff but I’m guessing that the some total of feedback on this issue caused them to change course. A good move I think.
