Aircraft developer FlyingIron has experience developing aircraft for multiple flight simulators with Spitfire IX, P-38L, P-47N and Grob G109B for X-Plane 11, an in-development A-7 for DCS World, and now a Spitfire IX for Microsoft Flight Simulator. As of today, their Spitfire IX for MSFS has been released. Here are the details!
Features
FlyingIron already has built a detailed Spitfire IX for X-Plane and turning around and doing a Microsoft Flight Simulator model seems to have been a slam dunk for the small developer. Here are some key features:
- Highly detailed 3D model with cockpit interior modeled using CAD information
- Sound package developed with Wwise and were professionally recorded from a real Spitfire
- Detailed flight model and realistic start-up and systems procedures including failures
- Standard and clipped wing variants
Web store now, Marketplace later
This is the initial release for FlyingIron’s Spitfire IX and so for now it is available only from their website webstore. If you want to buy it today, this is the only way to get it. According to FlyingIron, the aircraft has been submitted to SimMarket.com and the MSFS Marketplace. The former will take about 2-4 weeks while the latter typically takes 4-7 weeks for approval.
