Matt Wagner has once again taken to YouTube and this time he’s doing an introductory video for the DCS: Mi-24P Hind. This is our clearest indication yet that the Mi-24 is nearing its early access release. The video comes with all kinds of interesting information so let’s get into it.
Hind details
As is customary, the first video in Matt Wagner’s series is typically an overview of the aircraft (or helicopter) itself with details on the weapons, engine, avionics, and overall features of the aircraft.
The description of the video contains much of the same script with notable features including the aircraft’s Isotov TV3-117VMA turboshaft engines which develop 2,200shp on each engine or the Hind P’s 335 kph top speed.
Also mentioned in the video are the 30mm autocannon with 250 rounds, S-5 55mm, S-8 80mm, S-13 122mm, and S-24B 24cm rockets, 9M114 “Shturm-V” and 9M120 “Ataka” anti-tank guided missiles, bombs, countermeasure dispensers and more. In short, the Mi-24P is well equipped.
Matt Wagner says that many of these weapons will be available on release while others such as the air-to-air R-60 missile will come during the early access period.
Also of note in the video are the various scenes which include some more looks at the new Marianas Islands map in the background – for when you’re not staring intently at the Hind itself.
Early access soon?
Typically it’s been a matter of weeks after the launch of an introductory video such as this one before the module itself comes out into early access. Occasionally longer but I suspect that the Hind is nearly ready for its debut.
If you’re willing to jump in during the early access period, there’s a nice 30% discount which brings the $69.99 USD price down to $48.99. That’s available on the DCS World e-Store.
