This one was a bit of a surprise as it comes a bit earlier in the week rather than the usual Friday diary update. 1CGS has updated their development diary and in it they show off the latest on the Sd.Kfz. 10/5 Flak 38, the P-51B/C, and great new screenshots of the Pfalz D.XII.
Let’s start with the Pfalz
Ugra Media is working away on several aircraft for Flying Circus Vol 2 and making great progress. We’ve only just seen the release of the Fokker D.VIII and now I’m already excited about the next aircraft coming. The Pfalz D.XII is a late war type and yet another aircraft that was good in its own right but completely overshadowed by the success of the Fokker D.VII.
According to the dev diary, the aircraft will be available in the next update.
The update also comes with these great screenshots!
The second AAA vehicle
Digital Forms and 1CGS are also well along the way in development for the Sd.Kfz. 10/5 Flak 38 collector vehicle. This mobile AAA will complement the Russian GAZ mobile AAA truck we already have and this one should be interesting with its half track configuration. Jason Williams, Executive Producer for the IL-2 series, reports in the update that it will be ready for action later this summer.
We have some new screenshots to check out including these three. Note that the textures are not done yet and this is early in the engine integration process. It’ll pick all of that up before release – I’m sure!
P-51B progress, drop tanks too
No new images of the P-51B/C are out yet but according to the diary, the P-51 will release late in the summer and new images will be forthcoming. The last we saw of it, it was still untextured but I imagine that the latest progress is taking the type towards being fully textured and ready for release.
Drop tanks also are mentioned. 1CGS has been busy redoing the whole fuel system for IL-2 and drop tanks are just the icing on the cake. We have an image of a Bf109 with an underslung tank to show us that progress is well underway. Looking good!

And finally, Jason has released another cool poster for the series featuring the P-47D-22.

Check out all of this and more with the latest developer diary update!
