IL-2 devs looking for testers for new ‘Marshal’ feature

If you’ve got some solid experience with multiplayer IL-2: Great Battles, the team at 1CGS is putting out a call for testers for the new ‘Marshal’ feature which has also been called ‘Air Marshal’ in the past. Here’s what you need to know.

What is the ‘Marshal’ mode?

The short story of this is that we don’t exactly know what the 1CGS is hoping to do with the feature except that it’s intended to put a player into the command seat with an overview of the battle with real time fog of war and with the ability to send information to pilots on on what they should be doing next. I’ve heard comparisons with older Battlefield titles that featured the Commander mode and with ARMA’s command system as well.

The feature has been talked about for years now but is apparently getting close enough to completion that the time for testing has come! That’s exciting.

Testers needed

Jason Williams, Executive Producer for the IL-2: Great Battles Series, took to the forums yesterday to put out a call for the testers with some of the following stipulations.

I need 25 testers to join the Beta to pick up the slack in testing Marshal Mode. That means I need people who know how to build missions, host a server, host COOPs and join severs and participate in MP without hand holding. And be able to learn by trial and error and do good reporting. Also, be able to communicate on TeamSpeak so have a mic for testing events.

You’ll also be required to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement).
