New DCS: F/A-18C feature for HMD alignment

Those looking for the most depth out of their DCS: F/A-18C experience will like this new feature and new video from Matt Wagner on the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet. You’ll now have the opportunity to align the HMD.

HMD alignment procedure

Chalk this one up to extreme realism. If you wanted to align your HMD before, you’ll have the opportunity now with this latest update. The diagnostic process will see you ensure that the HMD is aligned correctly with a similar display on the HUD. This will now be a requirement for start-up from cold and dark while hot on the ramp and so forth will have it pre-done.

Enjoy the video!

Not a feature I would use, but still happy to see them put the effort into the plane. And I do find myself spending more and more time in the Hornet. Talk about a super-premium product!

Seems a bit annoying on first take, but hey, it’s not really any different than INS align, after all 😉

Honestly very annoying to have yet another step added to the cold start procedure.

I’ll admit it is a bit. I’m wondering if ED will provide an option for this.

Not yet as I assume the programming and features are somewhat different.

The F-16 did just get a long list of fixes and features in today’s open beta release. I haven’t had a chance to explore just yet.
