Training gets serious

Known as IHADSS (Integrated Helmet and Display Sighting System), this is a key feature of of the helicopter and the video’s 11 minute run time is a good indication of the amount of detail that Matt Wagner is going into for this video.

The IHADSS has an impressive number of features. In addition to the usual information that you might expect from a HUD on an F-16 or F/A-18, the system also has special modes to aid with hovering and initiating pop-up attacks in confined areas. Additionally, it can be integrated with the FLIR system that will let you look around with impressive night vision augmentation that also lets you see through the helicopter. It’s impressive!

    The learning curve looks mighty steep. But I’m sure there are some fun flights once you have at least some of them handled.

    Good thing tis is being released at the onset of winter. More time for learning and flying.

      The AH-64 will likely be somewhere in the A-10C/F-16C range. I have heard that the helicopter is one of the easiest to fly aggressively so I would assume that it will feel relatively easy to manage that way but the emphasis will instead be on systems.

    I’m curious if in VR the monocle for the HDU will only be projected to one eye…anybody know?

      The Ka-50 gives you the option so that seems likely here too.
