IL-2 update includes Ar234, Bedford truck and statement

1C Game Studios started their developer diary update with a statement on the war in Ukraine. Meanwhile, development on aircraft like the Ar234 as well as some vehicles like the Bedford truck and updates to the US bomber pilot models are coming through as well.

Ukraine situation statement

The last few days have been difficult to watch from afar and even more difficult for those living through this moment in history. My focus on sim news with Stormbirds.blog doesn’t diminish the gravity of the situation that we see today.

It also has impacts in our sim world and in this this 1CGS developer diary we see a brief statement by Executive Producer Jason Williams.

Once again, we are reminded that real-life is much more important than a video game or flight simulation. We pray for the safety and well-being of all our friends, family and associates no matter where they are during this difficult time. We are an international team and an apolitical organization and we wish to remain so. We ask that you help us keep our forum and other properties civil as world events unfold. We are operating as usual; development continues and we expect to continue to do so.

Sim updates

The big sim update is the Arado Ar234 jet bomber cockpit. This aircraft was the first operational jet bomber and it has quite a unique cockpit design that seems equal parts futuristic and 1940s contemporary at the same time. Have a look.

We also have the Bedford truck and fuel tanker. One of the many vehicles going into IL-2: Battle of Normandy. The details are impressive!

Finally, more details on the US bomber crew. With the details going into these, I remain hopeful that we’ll be able to appreciate these up close some day. I think that day will come.

Check out the latest IL-2 developer diary for all of this and more.

Where else can you get such a broad selection of well modeled aircraft? NO WHERE.

Love that they always seem to include atypical aircraft. The 234 and 410 are THE reasons I’ll buy Normandy. The rest of the “regular cool” aircraft are just icing on the cake 😉

It’s a fantastic collection! And yeah I do appreciate the quirkier additions in addition to the mainstream ones. Having the battle packages seems to let them bring that variety to the mix more easily than the individual aircraft sales. I think it’s a good combination.
