A short IL-2 developer diary covers a lot of ground in a short amount of time. We have new screenshots of the Siemens-Schuckert D.IV Collector Plane in development as well as the StuG III Ausf. G. Plus there’s a bit of news on some other items too! Let’s go!
D.IV and StuG III update
New images are out for two new Collector items for the IL-2 series. Ugra Media are busy building the Siemens-Schuckert D.IV and the new images showcase the latest work on both exterior model and on the cockpit. This zippy little scout had a high rate of climb and excellent top speed with just over 100 being built before the end of the war.

The second batch of images is for the Collector Vehicle StuG III Ausf. G. The StuG III was a highly successful assault gun and the most produced tracked vehicle for Germany in WWII. Armed with the 7.5 cm StuK 40 L/48 this armored vehicle has been one of the most requested additions to the Tank Crew series. Check out the latest images.

The latest on everything else
I put together a post a few days ago looking over some of the things coming up next for the series. Today’s update gives us a similar reminder on what’s coming up next. That includes:
- Work on a Custom Input Profile
- Work on the Normandy career
- C-47
- Churchill
- IAR 80/81
- Spitfire XIV “Bubble Top”
A new free Scripted Campaign is coming to Battle of Bodenplatte owners too. This one is called Wild Mustangs and it’s focused on the P-51D Mustang. The campaign was built by Jaegermeister, a community member, who has previously contributed the P-38J “Lightning Strikes” campaign also for Bodenplatte.
One thing I feel the devs should do is that if a non-FC owner buys the Snipe or the S-S D.IV then they can fly just that plane (or both if you buy them) over the Arras map. While yes if you bought just the Fw-190D-9 and wanted to fly it over the Bodenplatte map you would have to buy Bodenplatte, I feel that because most of the aircraft and maps in FC are just being rebuilt from RoF then this can be okay. Heck, it could even be a way for new players to experience FC without paying too much money if they decide that they don’t like it.

That would be a departure from the norm although with the new map coming, perhaps it will be opened up. What will definitely be possible is that these aircraft can be flown over the Arras map online at the very least.
