Some DCS World modules hew very close to their real life counterparts down to the specific block, model, and even serial number with very little or nothing added that wasn’t specific to that aircraft at that very specific point in time. That’s why our Block 50 F-16C doesn’t have SDB options for example. RAZBAM are taking a bit of a wider approach with the F-15E Strike Eagle with the latest news from RAZBAM CEO Ron Zambrano.

Options for old and new

The F-15E Strike Eagle that RAZBAM is modeling is based around the Suite 4E+ version. That, however, hasn’t stopped them from offering some added features. In a Tweet that came out yesterday, Ron offered some new details and images saying that RAZBAM was willing to give people options to outfit their F-15E with a variety of options. That includes the old Lantirn Pod and the much newer Sniper pod. Even JHMCS, the helmet mounted sight, is now on the table.

I assume Ron’s comments on “no guessing” mean that the work to deliver all of these options does not have an ETA and that this is part of their long term vision for the F-15E.

As of right now, we don’t have any ETA for the early access release of the DCS: F-15E. Although it’s highly and hotly anticipated, work appears to still be going on at a deep level with this project and I would not anticipate it until the end of this year at the earliest.

This announcement is clearly aimed at future goals of the project although the art assets for the various targeting pods is already clearly well evolved.

  1. I took the “No Guessing” to mean they’re using actual data for their pods. Even though Sniper is the state of the art, they’ll be able to model it accurately.
