If you’re into flying warbirds in Microsoft Flight Simulator, one of the go-to developers is Flying Iron Simulations. Today, they have released their F6F Hellcat and it looks really good.
Hellcat!

There are many iconic aircraft of WWII and I think the Hellcat is near the top of my list. This carrier-borne fighter made history in numerous battles across the Pacific. Because its a carrier aircraft, it has some unique features like folding wings, a cockpit that sits high offering good visibility over the nose, and of course a tailhook.
FlyingIron advertise a number of key features for this module. The highly detailed exterior and interior, high detail flight model, as well as custom modeling for heating and cooling, ground handling, engine damage, and water injection. There’s a tablet that gives you a variety of options and maintenance control and they have also enabled an option where the gunsight can be swapped for a GNS 530 GPS system for those modern day cross country adventures.
FlyingIron Simulations is selling the F6F through their website for $45.00 AUD which is roughly $31 USD.
One thing that I’m very interested in with this one is it’s got a very low stall speed for a fighter, 75-80 knots, which means it may be able to get into some very tight spots for a heavy, long legged fighter.
Imagine bush flying in something with 2000hp!
