Developers like to have a little fun now and again and insert some goofy things into their otherwise serious product and Eagle Dynamics is not above having a little Halloween fun on Halloween. We’ve seen funny gags from them before but this one is particularly fun. Here’s what I’ve spotted so far!
Spooky noises, jack-o’-lantern runway lights and more!

During the day, things look pretty normal but when it gets dark things take spookier turn. Eagle Dynamics has setup DCS with some spooky green lighting washing everything over with a kind of ghostly glow.
On the Caucasus map you can spot some of the runway lights having turned into jack-o’-lanterns.

Over on the DCS: Supercarrier, the deck crew have gone all skeletal.

And if that wasn’t enough, if you’re out anywhere in a city you’ll hear creepy noises and whispering.

You can turn it off, but don’t spoil the fun
If you’ve got a serious DCS World session planned for this evening and the spooky mood is not working for you, Eagle Dynamics have a way to turn off this event. Set no_easter_eggs = true in the configuration file and you’re good to go. Bignewy from the Community Manager team over on the DCS World forums has the instructions here.
Finally, I’ve already seen a few comments out there so I know they are out there but let’s try and not spoil in the fun.
There’s a way to turn it off, the event will be over in several hours, and no the programming team did not stop working on multi-core, AI, Vulkan or other features because they did a goofy thing.
Enjoy the fun and it’ll all be over soon!
Ahaha awesome. I hope they keep doing these. The april fools ones are awesome as well. Remember the landing gear slot machine? XD

I remember seeing the community messages but I missed out myself. It was pretty funny to put the gear down and eject ☺️

I can’t remember if I’ve said it but if you haven’t deleted and had DCS rebuild your shader caches, you should definitely do that. Often solves performance issues.
