I can’t see anything on mudspike about a shutdown. What happened? I know they rarely did articles anymore. Like 3 or 4 a year. Shame after simhq.

I probably should have elaborated. Their website is being shut down. The forums apparently will continue on. https://forums.mudspike.com/t/c-c-changes/14736

Interesting fact: for quite awhile, the official F/A-18 User Guide from ED did NOT include a LOT of information about how to use the module(!). E.g., the Litening TGP, many of the advanced weps, and was out of date on several features (a2a radar). So even if you were willing to RTFM, the info wasn’t there!!!! 😮

But, “Guess Who” had a completely illustrated guide with NO MISSING INFO…?

So when Chuck started accepting Patreon, I was one of the first to sign up.

Also, when I realized StormBirds saved me a bunch of money by sharing info about sales, in addition to being one of the only truly editorial flight sim sites available, I signed up in Patreon for this site, as well.

Both patronages are worth way more than they cost. 🙂

Chuck’s Guide has been an unofficial manual for most of my DCS flying for years. I definitely am a supporter!

Glad to hear that Stormbirds is offering value too. Always happy to be of service!

It’s easy to support StormBirds because you actually write stories and articles! The rest of the sites basically copy and paste PR snippets from the various devs.

And you cover a broad spectrum of flight sims themselves, where it’s basically just one or two of the civ sims at the other sites.

It’s definitely a lot of extra work for you, but it also definitely means that Stormbirds is one of the very few sites I know I’m actually going to enjoy reading!

Thanks for keeping things going so well – looking forward to hearing your news and perspective through next year as well 🙂
