In less than two hours, the premier of the DCS World 2023 and beyond trailer will debut! I’m very curious to see what will be shown and how it will be tackled. Get ready!
Phantom on the cover
The big hope in 2022 was that Heatblur would hit their projected release date of coming out sometime in late 2022. That was not to be for a bunch of very good reasons, however, they may not miss their goal by too much as the F-4 Phantom is gracing the cover image of this YouTube live stream video.
There are plenty of other modules that might get a feature here as well. We’ve started to see a lot from Magnitude-3 of their F4U Corsair. OnReTech’s DCS: Sinai map has been previewed a lot recently. The A-6 Intruder and Eurofighter Typhoon may show. And of course I fully expect the DCS: F-15E Strike Eagle from RAZBAM will get a good billing as well.
What other surprises might we see? Will there be teases at the end? The yearly DCS 20XX and beyond videos have always been a showcase of what is as well as hints at what is to come and I expect this will too.
The trailer officially releases at 1900Z. Convert your current time zone to GMT/Zulu time here.
Full coverage will appear this evening following the trailer release!

Strike Eagle and IDS Tornado will be instabuys for me. Interested to learn about any plans in WW2 ETO direction. PTO is not my cup of tea.

They teased the Hellcat. Hell yes. 🙂

Bummed to not see the A-6 but loved everything else we saw! As a helo bubba, I’m so excited to see more whirly birds coming our way!

3:01 – 3:05 is not a Hellcat. Looks to me more like – just maybe – a Ki-84 Hayate?
Too quick to be certain but: radial engine, semi-bubble canopy, small ventral radiator, prominent dorsal aerial and what appears to be late war Japanese dark green / medium grey cammo.
Open to ideas, but checking the La-9 and -11 they do not quite seem to match.

Check 5:24-5:31 Square wings, high back cockpit, deep fuselage the a very Grumman tail. In fact 5:31 is a still that’s almost certainly a Hellcat.
I’m pretty sure the 3:01 bird is the La-9 that was previously announced.

Yep, you’re right. Deffs a Grumman there.
Did not realise the La-9 had been announced

La-7. To my knowledge, no La-9 has been announced for DCS.

You’re right. I get the La-7 and La-9 confused.

Also yes an F6F makes an appearance right at the end.

I think that is the La-7 from OctopusG

It’s an La-7 by Octopus G. We’ve seen it a bit recently but this is the first time in video.

Actually, no, I’m now going with La-9 as the radiator is too far back for a Hayate, But that is a new reveal or did I miss it?

The aircraft with the white / silver wings being shot-up over the sea? Looks radial but slightly elongated like it had several crew.
Dunno. Something Japanese?

Well, I keep telling myself that I don’t need any more aircraft. Then they show this stuff and I want one of each of them.

I hear that Michael! Even without the blog to justify the purchases, I see all of these cool aircraft and I want all of them 🙂

OMG that is brilliant. Do you think my wife would go for that. “Honey I HAVE to buy this so I can write a review, I don’t want it for myself”
