I missed the launch by a few days but Sim Works Studios has officially launched their latest aircraft to Microsoft Flight Simulator. The Van’s RV-10 is the follow-up to their already excellent RV-14 and it comes packing some interesting new features including support for Sky4Sim tablet. Let’s have a look!
Ready for takeoff

Following up their excellent Van’s RV-14 that I reviewed last year, SWS are now making their RV-10 available to the public. This rendition of the well known kit-built aircraft comes with the usual assortment of features including highly detailed modeling, high resolution textures, flight model tested by real world RV-10 pilots, flutter animations from the propwash, weight based visiblity of the co-pilot and baggage, realistic lighting, and so on.
As a new feature, the RV-10 also comes with support for Sky4Sim’s EFB tablet addon. The tablet comes packaged with maps, airport information, weather radar and data, notepad and whiteboard, flight planner with .PLN files import/export and a logbook for your flights. With the RV-10 this tablet can be placed within the cockpit. The tablet is free but some extra features are available for €17.99.

Meanwhile, back to the RV-10, we have an awesome trailer from the folks at Aviation Lads. Check it out!
Solving bugs, adding support
With the RV-10 out for several days now, SWS have indicated that they are collecting feedback to solve a few minor issues with the airplane and adding additional support. First, TDS Sim Software GTN650Xi will be supported in an update due out in a few days. It will replace the GNS430 when detected.
Second, an unusual bug with the Working Title G3000 has been revealed with some cross compatibility issues with the FlightFX Vision Jet causing the RV-10 to have an empty fuel tank indication. They are working with FlightFX to solve the issue. Meanwhile SWS also recommend the following.
It is strongly recommended that you remove older versions of the WTG3000 completely from your Community folder and Content Manager and stay with the default version of the WT G3000 that ships with AAU1, which is the latest and will get updated by Microsoft & Working Title in the future.
SWS on Facebook
A relatively minor issue all things considered but certainly worth noting if you’re picking up the aircraft and also are flying the Vision Jet.
If the RV-10 appeals to you, it can be purchased for €14.99 on the SWS website. It’s also expected to appear on the ORBX, JustFlight, SimMarket and Contrail storefronts soon.
