A DCS Mosquito livery competition, three new campaigns, and more

This latest DCS World Weekend news update comes with a few different items including a new competition for liveries on the DCS: Mosquito FB.VI, three new campaigns and news about the DCS: A-10C II ARC-210 radio.

The radio is coming

Nearly all of the planned updates for DCS: A-10C II have been out for a very long time now, however, one remaining update has almost become ‘memeified.’ I am talking, of course, about the wait for the new ARC-210 radio.

Fortunately, it appears that the radio is nearly here.

The ARC-210 replaces one of the two VHF radios on the left console and provides UHF and VHF modes that can also be programmed from the COMM page on a Multifunction Color Display. The ARC-210 can also be controlled from the Upfront Controller (UFC) and display the current setting on the HUD.

The update also mentions that the radio will also support satellite radio communications and that the feature will proliferate to other modules.

Three new campaigns

In the next DCS World open beta, three new campaigns will be released. They include Reflected Simulations highly anticipated V for Victory campaign featuring a series if of missions for the DCS: Mosquito including night intruder, ranger, pathfinder, and photo recce. It also includes a recreation of the prison break at Amiens prison where Mosquitos aided with the breakout by bombing the prison walls.

Reflected has a video out showing off the campaign and the unique navigator feature that has been scripted into it. Check it out!

There’s also Ground Pounder Sim’s DCS: AV-8B based “Kerman campaign” featuring a fictional Arab Spring scenario requiring a US intervention in the Persian Gulf leading to Marines on the ground. The player is assigned to USMC Harrier squadron VMA-311 as they provide support to the Marines across 11 missions.

Finally there’s DCS: F/A-18C based ‘Inherent Resolve’ by Looking Glass. This is a campaign utilizing the Syria map set across 13 missions. Missions are intended to be quick and easy with supplied kneeboards and mission PDFs providing support to the experience.

Mosquito livery competition

Attention skin artists. Eagle Dynamics is having a livery competition for the DCS: Mosquito. The competition starts today and runs until March 24. There are some ground rules including the use of a specific template, a current or historical scheme of any Mosquito variant, and the livery must be associated with one of the countries currently represented by DCS World.

I’d like to think the small nature of Friday’s news is because all the attention is focused on next Wednesday’s update. Rumours are out there about multi-threading and maybe a new map. I’m thinking we might see WWII Marianas. We’ll see.

That would be interesting indeed! I’ve not heard either way but it could indeed be big!

Very low key rumours. Perhaps not worthy yet of your spies.
