Normandy 2.0 feature of latest DCS newsletter

The DCS World Weekend News update is here and it’s here to highlight the latest work on DCS: Normandy 2.0 map for DCS World including news on the upgrade pathway. Let’s have a look!

Normandy 2.0 progress and upgrade

This week the update is focused on the latest work by Ugra Media on DCS: Normandy 2.0. This WWII themed map is planned for release sometime later this year and from the sounds of things we’re getting closer to a launch date.

There’s an interesting upgrade pathway here. First, DCS: Normandy 1944 owners will be seeing some updates for free on the existing map which apparently will ensure compatibility in multiplayer. Here’s what was said in the update:

The Normandy 1944 map will be updated such that it will be compatible with the Normandy 2 map in both single player and multiplayer. This includes the addition of many new and improved fields, cities, and villages that will now become unique and separate territories of France and England.

I am very curious to know how this works as the new map will have a much wider scale and scope. Presumably some areas will be unavailable for owners of the older map or at least not offered with any detail.

Should prior owners wish to get the full Normandy 2.0 experience, the upgrade price will be $14.99 USD. That of course includes a dramatically expanded map with 69 airfields and both London and Paris modeled along with all other areas within the new map boundary. There’s also spring, summer and autumn seasons included for all owners.

Here are some of the latest screenshots.

There’s also a short video clip featuring a creek in 1944 France and a dog fighting Bf109 and Spitfire IX.

Hoggit shoutout

This week’s update is otherwise thin of any additional content save for a shout-out to the Hoggit Multiplayer servers. That, of course, has caused the usual raising of pitchforks in typical Hoggit fashion. Never change Hoggit, never change!

Read the full update for this week right here and stay tuned for news on DCS: Normandy 2.0.

Off-topic: But have ED removed bundles for good on the e-shop? The following message is displayed when you go to Home > E-Shop > Bundles – “No products were found.”

Evidently there are no bundles at present. Sometimes they have a whole bunch of them on the go. It changes.

That’s a good looking map. Looking forward to playing with the lighting and the weather to see what kind of eye candy you can get out of it.
