With a long feature list, some impressive visuals on display, and a historical warbird that many of you might love, the news that GotFriends latest aircraft is on its way is certainly welcome news. Here’s what we know!
Wildcat time
I’m loving the fact that I’ve been able to write more about warbirds from the Pacific theatre recently. After years of the industry not doing as much in this part of history, we’re getting a bunch of products that are aimed at delivering some slices from aviation from that era. GotFriends is up to the bat next with their F4F Wildcat for Microsoft Flight Simulator and its looking pretty good from what we’ve seen of it so far!
Details have been shared on the Microsoft Flight Simulator official forums with a list of features for the aircraft that include things like a very detailed flight model with CFD and soft body simulation, free-castoring tail wheel, aircraft carrier compatibility, at least eight 4K liveries, complex electrical systems and engine vibration effects.
GotFriends have also confirmed some release information. The aircraft will be released on the MSFS Marketplace as well as from the Got Friends website. The website version will include gun and bomb effects as well as an unannounced livery that the ESRB ratings on the Marketplace prohibit. Price is a very reasonable $19.99 USD as well – undercutting the competition in the space by as much as $20.
Preview coming
GotFriends was recently in touch with me about doing a review and so I’m working away on a first impressions and full review to come just a bit later. For now, enjoy a few preview screenshots while I get my feet under the Wildcat and its 28-turn handcranked landing gear – simulated by GotFriends!
