Top Gun: Maverick is staying in MSFS for a bit longer

For those of you who haven’t yet downloaded Top Gun: Maverick for Microsoft Flight Simulator, you have a bit longer to access and then enjoy the free licensed DLC package. Microsoft and Paramount have come to an agreement to extend the licensing deal for a bit longer.

We have some good news on the free Top Gun: Maverick DLC. The licensing agreement has been extended slightly pushing the original end date out from May 25th to July 25th. Thursday’s development update revealed the good news:

In last month’s Developer stream, we announced that Top Gun: Maverick would be removed from Microsoft Flight Simulator on May 25th due to our license agreement with Paramount coming to a close. As we were all a bit sad about this news, we contacted Paramount and both parties agreed to extend our agreement for another two months. You can continue to download and enjoy the Top Gun: Maverick expansion until July 25th. Happy flying!

MSFS development update for May 23rd

According to the last Q&A, after July 25th (originally May 25th), the DLC will no longer be downloadable but it will be flyable. That has been called slightly into question when a community manager was asked the same question and said that it was being worked on.

We will provide further information regarding the Top Gun: Maverick DLC as soon as we are able to. Fear not, we haven’t forgotten!

Either way, its likely the rest of the assets that belong to the DLC will continue to function independently but the carrier landing challenge and the speed runs through various terrain are likely to disappear.

Stay tuned for more on this!
