Lots of news to report on and here is just some of it. DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum has released today which marks a significant content release for the series. We’ve also got a new MiG-29 tutorial from Matt Wagner which will help you if you’re plotting to fly it on launch with some key information on how to use the aerial combat systems. A significant update to the sim has also happened today with a long list of modules seeing updates.
Fulcrum is here

For years we’ve heard from community members saying over and over that they wanted to see some Russian DCS World level high fidelity aircraft in the sim and for years there were rumours and then confirmation that at least one was being developed. That day is here with the early access launch of the DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum.
Eagle Dynamics are touting the DCS: MiG-29A’s featureset including a fully interactive clickable cockpit based on 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry for accuracy. Detailed systems including INS based navigation system, radar warning and countermeasure systems, IRST and laser range finder, and detailed radar model among other features. A simplified IFF system is offered for now. The aircraft also, critically, features both English and Russian language cockpit and vocalizations. A full complement of weapons including R-27 variants, R-73, R-60, and 30mm GSH-30-1 autocannon as well as a mix of general purpose bombs and rockets are also included.
The aircraft has a roadmap of post release early access features that include GCI command system, a more detailed IFF system, full flight manual and a campaign by Eagle Dynamics as well as more single missions and liveries are planned.
It’s also worth noting that the aircraft has a list of known issues to be patched in the patch notes including autopilot oscillations above 600 km/h, brake chute not being visible in multiplayer, and cannon muzzle flash improvements.
DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum is available on Steam and the DCS e-Shop for $63.99 USD.
Eagle Dynamics are selling separately a Garmin GNS430 which can be added to the aircraft and includes optional 3D model within the cockpit (closely mirroring many retrofitted MiG-29s). The add-on is $5.99 USD.
Learn the combat systems of the MiG-29
Matt Wagner is back today as well with a new tutorial for the DCS: MiG-29. This one teaches about the MiG-29’s aerial combat systems with a look at how the radar and electro-optical systems work as well as a demo of the helmet mounted sight and off-boresight target lock and engagement.
A new DCS World update
DCS 2.9.20.15010 is the latest version to release and it has a few other notable updates packaged in. MiG-29 aside, there’s also the release of the new DCS: A-10C II Outpost campaign by Stone Sky available for $10.99 USD.
There are plenty of other updates ranging from minor bug fixes to significant updates to specific aircraft and weapons. The R-27 has a lengthy note in the update description mentioning a new CFD based flight model, Kalman-type guidance filters, seeker gimble mechanics, INS and datalink system, conical proximity fuse, and various other simulation updates.
The DCS: F-16C, F/A-18C, AH-64D, F4U-1D, JF-17, and AJS-37 are among the aircraft receiving significant updates. So too has the DCS: Iraq map, Caucasus map, Cold War Germany map, Sinai map, and DCS: South Atlantic which has now emerged out of early access. Read the full change log here!
