A Spanish DCS channel on YouTube has posted an interview with the CEO of Aerges as well as a subject matter expert who is working with Aerges on their modules. The video is in Spanish but community members from the r/Hoggit community have translated some key points. Let’s have a look!

Mirage F1M, F-104, and others

The interview, in Spanish, covers quite a bit of range on what Aerges is up to with their plans for DCS World. CalmAd7670 from r/Hoggit posted a message on the community forums that helps summarize from Spanish into English covering some of the key points.

Some of the things that we learned? Aerges have bought a real F1M simulator from the Spanish forces so they can work with a real training sim. The F1M is quite far a long in development with an upgraded cockpit model, complex MFD screen (with 50 to 100 pages), GPS, CCIP, and CCRP capability.

Exterior and interior graphics for the entire F1 line are being upgraded and graphical updates are also planned for the company’s C-101 as well.

Over on the F-104, the project is also coming along nicely and is already quite advanced. There are plans to make the zero length launch system with the F-104 work meaning you can rocket off into the sky from a fixed launcher. Sounds like a rush!

There is the impression given by the summary that the Mirage III module is also under consideration. I know there are some regular readers here who have often hoped for one of those and so apparently that is a consideration for future projects. I’d be all for it.

Watch the video above or check out the rest of the summary right over here on r/Hoggit.

  1. Oh yeah, gimme that F-104. Been my favourite plane since forever.

  2. I have been hoping for a Mirage III for a while now. It could be used in multiple maps in DCS (Falklands, Cold War Germany, Middle Eastern maps to name a few) and will fill in a massive gap in the Cold War part of the gameplay.

    1. Lots of possibilities!

      1. Oh absolutely. Lots of possible scenarios where you could use the Mirage III in DCS. Personally, I hope that they do the IIIE for the Argentine side in the Falklands, but I think that the IIIC is a definite must for the Israeli Air Force. Aerges seems to have made themselves a reputation for including multiple variants in one module, (most notably the Mirage F1) so who knows? I think a multi-variant Mirage III is likely if they were to do this aircraft.

      2. Aerges does jets flown by the Spanish Air Force, so it’s pretty easy to guess which Mirage III variants they would make – the strike EE and trainer ED

    2. Yes the Mirage III would be great and I know one ex delta driver who would love to see it come to DCS (finally).

Probably going to a while away before that happens – some will have to make do with the pretending they are in a III when flying the Kfir (I know I know – its a very different aircraft from the III but you get what I mean)

      1. Could be a bit of a race to see which one arrives first. Aerges has some experience and technology under them now that the Kfir group is still developing for the first time. Either way, some interesting gameplay experiences ahead!

      2. DCS-wise, the next 10 years will be very interesting. I do hope we get a Mirage III sometime before 2036 but if we can’t, well I am sure we will get a lot of aircraft worth the wait.

  3. Just to add that Mr. Manuel Rivera is not only an expert in the field, he flew the Mirage F1 in the Ejército del Aire (Spanish Air Force) and Pablo’s father (the CEO of AERGES) flew the F1M and the F/A-18, so AERGES has first-hand people to help with the module.

    1. that helps to understand why their addons are so good!

  4. I hope they got a REALLY good deal on that F1M simulator – those IRL systems are VERY expensive!

the F1 is already a very good module. The M and its modern-ish avionics will make it ever so much better 😁

But really, I can hardly wait to embarrass myself in the F-104 😎

    1. Yeah those things can be expensive! Sounds like they have multiple connections to the air force there so maybe a going out of service discount?

      1. Seems like the F1’s were retired in 2013, so the sim would hopefully be “surplus to requirements” and sold off for Pennies on the dollar. Could still be quite a few Pennie’s tho!😁

it’s interesting that there’s some sort of requirement for Aerges to retain the sim, tho.
Makes sense – even tho the F1 is obsolete, that’s still an IRL combat training system, so better to keep it out of the wrong hands.

  5. The Spanish IIIE would be the same as used by many other countries including Argentina, Brazil, Lebanon, Pakistan, Venezuela, South Africa. I’m not sure how different the other versions would be in practice for game purposes. I know the Swiss had theirs adapted for US weapons (that aren’t in the game) If pressed, the IIIE isn’t that different than IIIB or C, more like using an F-16C we have to represent an F-16A in DCS…. just a matter of simplified avionics and fewer weapons options. I’m not going to complain at all if we “only” get a Mirage III E.

    1. I would like to see a F-16A one day though because it would make the scene of the battlefield that much more historically accurate.

      1. I wouldn’t buy an F-16A module.

        Pay money to get less?

When I can just fly the F-16C and not use AMRAAMS or TGPs?

I get it…there’s other differences from avionics to engine model but…. meh.

I just don’t need to pay for that level of “realism.”

      2. Valid point, but for me (at least) its all about experiencing realism, even if that includes buying and flying downgraded versions of what we already have. Call me weird, but I like that aspect of the game. I love the chellenge of flying an inferior plane against a more superior rival.

  6. I wonder where Aerges will go when they run out of Spanish Air Force fighter aircraft to do. Maybe they will focus on cold war aircraft the French or Portuguese Air Force?

Who knows as that is a little way off still.
