We’ve got updates coming in from the traditional DCS World Weekend News update. Magnitude 3 is providing us with a F4U Corsair update while we also get an update on how the DCS: C-130J livery contest is going and a look at the latest DCS: F/A-18C campaign with a sequel to the Cerberus North campaign. Here we go!
Updates coming to F4U

Magnitude 3 has submitted, through Eagle Dynamics, a development report on the DCS: F4U Corsair. The focus appears to be on the flight model of the aircraft with an aim to improving some of the pain points with the aircraft.
Some of those changes include drag model changes for flaps (too much drag under the old model), more authentic stall recovery, tailwheel tuning for smoother yaw control on the ground, as well as improved cockpit movement for camera control.
Also seeing an update is the Japanese 25mm AA gun with improved damage model, and reduced range (up to 6,000 meters altitude rather than 7,500 reflecting real world documents).
Some future updates are also discussed:
Looking ahead, we’re working on new features to expand the Corsair’s capabilities. One of our main goals is to add the catapult system for the F4U-1D, bringing a key part of carrier operations. We’re also continuing to improve the BAT-9 radar. To get this right, we’re seeking the best technical sources to ensure the system is as accurate as possible.
I am glad to see the Corsair continue to evolve and looking to see various fixes to how it flies come into place.
New campaign, new livery contest updates
The other two notes are focused on the livery contest for the DCS: C-130J and on a new campaign for the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet.
Operation Cerberus North 2 by Ground Pounder Sims is coming in the next update and will focus on continuing the 2014 Syrian Civil War scenarios of the earlier iteration. You’ll be flying with VMFA-232 from the USS Harry S. Truman in a 13-mission campaign. Look for the campaign to come into the store with the next update.
Meanwhile, the DCS: C-130J livery contest is underway and it looks like there are quite a few impressive entrants right now. The deadline is April 6 at 23:59 GMT.
