A short developer update from DCS World third party developer Octopus G has just come out in the last day with an overview video showing off the aircraft’s most recent updates. Those include electrical changes and a 3D pilot addition to the cockpit. Let’s have a look!

Lavochkin update

There’s a few showcased updates coming with DCS: La-7. It starts with a 3D model of the pilot in the cockpit. Then it switches over to a more complete model of the aircraft’s electrical systems. The video shows how the electrical systems interact with the batter charging and discharging based on various loads on the system. Really neat to see that side-by-side!

Also cool to see what happens when you discharge the battery altogether and the instruments go dead. Woops!

Check it out!

  1. I’m sorry about the off topic, but what map is that on the banner screenshot? Lot’s of nice trees in the background. 🙂

Not sure if it’s Caucasus or Cold War Germany?

      1. I think there needs to be a WWII Late War Eastern Front map for DCS, now that the La-7 is available. Maybe a 1945 Berlin map?

      2. I don’t fly WWII in DCS, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

If I’m Eagle Dynamics, I’m going to most likely put out a Eastern Front Russia map for WWII, as that would suit aircraft such as the LA-7, I-16 and “Russian-ized” lend-lease aircraft. Also an IL-2 and a P-40 (again, lend-lease)

I think this would allow ED to get players who are coming from IL2 and want a similar experience while being able to fly modern aircraft and helos, while maintaining the WWII experience.

  3. I am really looking forwards to what they are going to announce as their next product for DCS World. Many would argue that we already know: the Su-17/22. But they haven’t said or hinted much since they first showed work in progress four years ago.

I’m just worried it could very well be vaporware at this point. I hope not as the Cold War battlefield needs more aircraft present on both sides – particularly the Red Team.
