We’re learning new details about the status of the DCS: F-15C Eagle project which was announced in the 2025 and beyond video released well over a year ago. We’re also learning about the Su-25A Frogfoot project which, as far as we know, is still a free to play release coming to DCS World sometime in the future. Let’s have a look at the latest efforts!

F-15C and Su-25A take shape

Eagle Dynamics reports that the DCS: F-15C Eagle project is fully underway and is in full production. The latest developer images show how earlier efforts to laser scan the aircraft have paid off as elements like the canopy, the cockpit, and the air brake come together in highly detailed ways. The description says that they are working their way through the aircraft, panel by panel, as that development effort pays off.

These are, of course, work in progress images and in two of the three shots there are no textures yet applied. I think it’s safe to say that the early guess at a 2026 release isn’t likely, but, progress does appear to be good! We know from prior updates that systems and other work are also underway.

Meanwhile, another aircraft, the Su-25A Frogfoot project, is continuing to take shape as well with detailed damage models now being shown off. Eagle Dynamics reminds us that an aircraft like the Su-25, a close air support aircraft, may take damage during its job so having detailed damage model and visuals helps tell that story.

This week, the community focus is on DCS REFORGER Joint Training Server.

  1. Looking forwards to the F-15C, and the Su-25A – the latter which I think will be one of the three full fidelity red aircraft yet to be announced.

    1. In fact, I think the Su-25A will be the big reveal at the finale of DCS 2027 and Beyond.

      Could be wrong though.

      1. I like that idea quite a bit! Ever since the remaster of the Flaming Cliffs version was announced, there’s been considerable interest in the community for a full fidelity Su-25.

      2. It’s a bold claim, I know, but it makes sense for them to make a Su-25A for several reasons.
        1. Many people want a Su-25.
        2. This plane would be declassified enough to make.
        3. Remastering the Flaming Cliffs Su-25 could pave the way to a full fidelity Su-25A.

      3. It also shares at least a few avionics with similar or same capabilities as what we already have in the Mi-24P so there’s likely some savings there.

    1. You may be right. I was thinking end of 2027 but you know maybe end of 2028 is right. They have a few projects underway (that we know about) and I’m not sure how things are going really.

    2. That very well could be. But I’m willing to wait for a quality product like this one.

And I hope they make another F-15E for DCS World, as I am skeptikal as to whether RAZBAM will come back, and it would complement the F-15C nicely. But I would understand that remaking an F-15E from scratch would be a big gamble, and developers might want to do some other aircraft first, long before this one.

      True or False?

  3. The F-15C will be great for sure, but it does look a long way off. too bad. Really looking forward to the Su-25, whether a redo or an FF.

    1. Hopefully it being in “full production” now means that development will continue rapidly. I wouldn’t expect it this year but hopefully next? My fingers are crossed.

  4. Did we ever find out what additional helicopter is in development?

    1. No, we haven’t yet. My best guess is an AH-1 of some kind as it’s been directly mentioned by ED employees in the past and it keeps coming up. Kind of like the MiG-29 or Mi-24 which were long rumoured before appearing.

      1. That would be great – and hopefully an early model so we can have a simpler AH to operate!

      2. Yeah a mid 1970s or 1980s era would be interesting as a counterpoint to the Mi-24. I don’t know exactly how they will do this but it should be interesting.

  5. I still think they should just make the L39 Albatross the free Default aircraft.

But, I’m glad to see the overly neglected Su-25A get some much needed love.

If only the -25T could get the same treatment!
