Aerosoft’s CRJ for Flight Simulator looks incredible!

Third party aircraft (and airport) maker are busy bringing the Bombardier CRJ regional jet to Flight Simulator and the latest screenshots and development videos are really interesting looks at what is to come with the jet. Let’s have a look!

Regional jets at high fidelity

Aerosoft has developed a reputation for making high end products for various flight simulators including airports and aircraft and the next big project for Aerosoft for Flight Simulator is bringing the CRJ regional jet liner to life. A new development update coming out several days ago is showing off just how far they are along as well as how much is left to do.

The screenshots show a in-development, work in progress, early version of the CRJ700 that the developers stress still needs a lot of work. But it already looks extremely good in the new sim!

In addition to these screenshots, two videos have been released recently including an interview with the Aerosoft team and a work in progress look at the various buttons, switches and dials that the team have already put into the sim.

Although no release dates have been given, a jet of this complexity is likely to take some time and while it does sound like they would want to have a late 2020 release date, it may slip some from that.

We have heard that Flight Simulator’s SDK is still very much a work in progress piece and that Asobo Studios is working closely with developers like Aerosoft and PMDG to address the needs that they and many others will have as developers in the new sim.

Really enjoyed the CRJ in FSX, so I’m hyped that it’s coming to 2020.

I hope that some team is working on a DHC-2 Beaver or Otter, as those are commonly used seaplanes worldwide and I had fun flying them as well in FSX (last one was a download).

There is a DHC-2 coming. I’m waiting for a bit more info before I write on it but I’m excited about that.

As fabulous as the CRJ looks, I too am more interested in the Beaver or the Otter, those were two of my favorite planes in FSX!

I find civilian flight simulators to be really fun when flying either the heavies or as a bush pilot in the hardest approaches you could generate. Never seen much appeal in small jets.

Definitely have to do some writing on the smaller seaplanes and bush planes that are coming along.

Looks great. Only thing I would say is the ambient occlusion on the instrument panels and around the knobs looks wide and soft. I would dial it back, make it a bit sharper edged and add a bit of metal edging and very slight wear.
