We’ve got our second tutorial video for the DCS: C-130 coming to us from well known DCS YouTuber ‘ralfidude.’ The tutorial teaches us to start the C-130 and get it ready for flight. Let’s check it out!

Starting the Herc!

Airplane Simulation Company’s DCS: C-130 is getting closer to launch and today’s cold and dark start-up tutorial, created by ‘ralfidude,’ is yet another good indicator that the developer are getting ready to release their product for DCS World.

The tutorial is a complete walkthrough of the process needed to start the airplane up. There’s a bit of exposition on why some procedures is done but this tutorial, much like past videos on this and other aircraft, is relatively quick and to the point.

One of the interesting features briefly shown off is the custom menu for the aircraft. An interactive checklist, caro panel, and other information is stored within this display that is reminiscent of similar offerings in X-Plane and MSFS. Finally, we see one in DCS World! It should be useful in learning or refreshing on a module.

This is not the first video to come out with a prior version showing off landing practice with the C-130.

Check that earlier video out below.

  1. I’ve never cold started a plane in DCS. Not my thing. And I won’t cold start this one, but I’m happy to see more videos. Really looking forward to flying this.

Might cold start the F-35 when it comes out. I hear that’s about three whole buttons to push. 🙂

  2. Agreed. Cold start isn’t my thing. However, the C-130 fills a nice niche in DCS. A battlezone without transports is kind of empty. Also opens up other variants like AC-130 or options like the LC-130 (C-130 fitted with skis used for Arctic/Antarctic missions)

And you can always still use it in combat if there’s the MOAB option in this module. =-)

Overall should be a fine addition to DCS!
