A themed update focused on National Parks of the United States has come to Microsoft Flight Simulator. This update provides some great sightseeing opportunities across 31 locations in the US.
National parks, monuments, and the Goodyear Blimp
Microsoft Flight Simulator celebrates the 250th anniversary of the United States with a themed world update focused on national parks. The update lets Microsoft continue to show off what their photogrammetry, TIN and DEM based technologies can do with the sim. If you’ve previously flown in MSFS 2024’s Grand Canyon, think that but in 31 new locations.
The Microsoft Flight Simulator team partnered with Bing Places, Vexcel, Gaya, and Asobo to create World Update 22. The 250th anniversary of the United States is a historic milestone, and Microsoft Flight Simulator has created World Update 22 to reflect the country’s beauty. The immense update includes 31 areas of interest (AOIs) rendered using updated photogrammetry, TIN (triangulated irregular network) surface texturing, and digital elevation modeling (DEM)
Locations included in the World Update include Bryce Canyon National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Mount Hood National Forest, Redwood National Park and Olympic National Park as part of the 31 locations that have seen the update.
The update also comes with guided tours, a new mission type, that gives you narrative exploration for some of these locations and Discovery Flights as well.
They have also released a new aircraft with the update: the Goodyear Blimp.
The update is free for MSFS 2024 owners.
