A new popular helicopter model is coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator courtesy of Stratoware and Miltech Simulations. The MBB Bo 105 helicopter is ready to launch next week with a ton of variants and liveries. Let’s have a look.

Ready for flight

Announced together with several other Miltech Simulations projects back in January of this year, developer Stratorware appears to be launching ever so slightly ahead of the anticipated Q3 release date (when has that happened?!) with their MBB Bo 105 helicopter. There’s some big numbers associated with this project including 13-variants. They are:

  • Medical
  • Military ATGM
  • Aerobatic
  • Broadcast (with FLIR system)
  • Police (with searchlight)
  • Mountain Rescue (with hoists)
  • Floats
  • Snow Shoes
  • Tail Skids
  • Sling

And more reportedly!

The aircraft is compatible with Miltech Simulations Mission Hub which gives you objectives and scenarios to complete with the helicopter. Its also compatible with the Career Mode if purchased through the MSFS Marketplace. Also included are 50 liveries, Teufelsgraben Germany scenery, and a soundpack by Echo 19 using real world recordings.

Previews are expected to come ahead of the launch on Friday May 22nd. The launch platform is MSFS 2024 with no word if it will be available for MSFS 2020. There’s also no pricing announced as of yet.

  1. I guess this project appears to be a stepping stone to secure funds for the development of their DCS MBB Bo-105. Good on for having such a plan.

Different Miltech.. I know its confusing. This is Miltech Simulations who have worked on various Microsoft products for a long time. Their UH-60 seems well regarded.

Miltech-5 is a solo developer who has partnered with a bunch of different people and teams over the years to try and bring DCS: Bo 105 to life. Its an ongoing project.

      1. Sorry about that. I guess it can be easy to confuse the two, especially if they are doing the same aircraft. Maybe they could work together one day on the Bo-105 to bring it to DCS. I assume Miltech has more experience on the Bo-105 while Miltech-5 has more experience working with DCS. Who knows?

Indeed. Miltech Simulations seems firmly embedded into the MSFS dev sphere. Uncertain if they’d want to do DCS.

I’ve been fairly disappointed in their MH-60 Seahawk flight dynamics (when you bank an aircraft, it should always turn into the bank, right? 😉 ).

So, i’m wary of biting off on this one too quickly, especially since I had such a good experience with the JRX one in X-Plane.

BUT…it’s a solo dev in partnership with MilTech, and flight dynamics are said to have been a primary focus, so there IS hope 🙂

I haven’t flown their MH-60 yet. It’s interesting because I hear a lot of people really liking it but then I’ve also never been fully satisfied with helicopter dynamics in MSFS versus what I’ve experienced in DCS. I may not have tried enough helicopters either.

As much as this is Miltech supported, it is also a solo dev so we’ll have to see what they do. I might have to pick this one up!
